R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (CDP) provides near-continuous backups for both Windows and Linux servers. The system has two key components: the CDP Agent and the CDP Server. When R1Soft is run on a server for the first time, it creates a full replica of the data and disk structure, storing it in a disk-based backup repository. This first capture is the initial replica. From then on, the agent monitors block-level changes between scheduled backups. Each subsequent run transfers only the changed blocks to the backup server, which makes it possible to back up an entire server as often as every 15 minutes. R1Soft includes a straightforward web interface, plus an optional cPanel plugin that lets end-users manage their own restores.
